Hydro Aluminium Automotive AS, Raufoss, Norway - Skip Manipulator

SMITH - FERRAM supplied the Norwegian company Hydro a total material handling system for their 65 MN extrusion press. Scope of the delivery was handling of profiles after the finish saw, stacking of profiles into skips and skip handling by 2 cranes and conveyors from press via ageing area to packing area incl. return of empty skips back to the press. The delivery needed special design and attention to space as it had to be built in and around existing equipment and buildings. All mentioned above were solved with robust solutions which are operating fully automatic and controlled by several PLC´s. The machinery was built to meet demanding specifications from Hydro, both related to HES and capacity.
